Meetings

Meetings of the Society are held on the third Sunday in the months of September, October, November, December, April, May and June, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center in West Paris. This includes a business meeting, program and a coffee social. 2 p.m. is the meeting time with the exception of April which is a 1 p.m. Potluck Dinner.

Public Programs

Society members are available to present programs on Finland and/or Finnish-American history as scheduling permits. These programs are adapted to the needs of the group for which they are being presented; i.e. schools, nursing homes, historical societies, etc. Programs may include history, dance, costumes, food and other traditions.

Open House

Open house is held every Sunday in July and August from 2 to 4 p.m. with the exception of the third Sunday of August which is the annual picnic. This is an opportunity for visitors to drop in and visit the museum, shop in the tori, browse in the library and enjoy a cup of coffee!

  • Membership Dinner in April
  • Picnic on the Third Sunday of August
  • Bake Sale (usually in the summer)
  • Public Finn-Am Buffet Dinner (fall or spring)

Special Events

In an effort to share our culture, the
Society seeks to provide a public performance
annually (Concert, Folk Dancing, etc.) with
talent from Finland or the Finnish-American
community. These are advertised in area
newspapers as well as in the
Finnish-American publications.
